About LoopBuddy
A simple idea: walk together, explore Rotterdam, and make the city feel a little more like home.
Our story
How it started
LoopBuddy began with a straightforward observation: when you move to a new city, you can know plenty of people online and still feel alone on a Saturday afternoon. Walking is free, low-key, and somehow makes conversation easy, so why not build a community around it?
What started as a few friends exploring Rotterdam together grew into something we wanted to share. LoopBuddy is for anyone who likes fresh air, good chat, and discovering corners of the city, especially expats who are still finding their footing in the Netherlands.
What a LoopBuddy walk looks like
We meet at an easy-to-find spot, usually a tram stop or a park entrance, and walk for roughly 60 minutes at a comfortable pace. Routes vary: urban strolls through Katendrecht, green loops in Kralingse Bos, or riverside paths along the Maas. We pick trails that work in most weather and don't require special gear beyond decent shoes.
- Relaxed pace. Nobody gets left behind.
- Free to join, always
- English-friendly (Dutch welcome too)
- All ages and backgrounds welcome
- Dogs welcome on most routes. Check the walk details first.
Looking ahead
Right now LoopBuddy is about connection and exploration. Down the road, we'd love to organise charity walks where each step supports a good cause, but first things first: building a community that shows up and enjoys the city together.
Whether you've been in Rotterdam for two weeks or ten years, there's a place for you on the trail. Come say hi.
Explore together
Rotterdam is better on foot
From the Erasmus Bridge to hidden courtyard gardens, the city rewards walkers. LoopBuddy is your excuse to get out, stretch your legs, and turn “I should explore more” into something you actually do, with people who feel the same way.
